Corn Griddlecakes Recipe

We had some fresh grilled corn leftovers, and I got a hankering for my Dad's Corn Griddlecakes.
"I'll have what she's having."
Working our way backwards, here they are cooking:
It took me a while to find the recipe. The last place I looked was in my Grandmother's Fannie Farmer.
Yes!
(He called them fritters. They're not those round ball, doughy, deep fried fritters though).
Corn Griddlecakes
1 can creamed corn or 1 cup fresh corn (1 ear)
2 eggs
blend in blender until merged

add
6 TB flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp nutmeg
milk as needed while blending -- you'll be pouring it onto skillet

fry in butter, bacon grease, or coconut oil

serve with maple syrup

(made 13 3" diameter cakes my last batch)

Clutter Confidential: 24/31 Recipe for Success

This box filled with newspapers and whatnot has been parked under the table forever.
I spy another randomly placed photo album in there.
The photo album was empty.
It got placed in the "photo corner".

I thought the box might contain a pile of recipes.
Yes, a few.
Mostly, I found lots of 2013 unread newspapers (placed there during a mad cleanup, no doubt).
Direct transport outside to the blue recycle bin.
Under that was a collection of magazines from 2009!
More trips to the blue bin.
I'll confess, not everything got sorted out of the box.
I put some items back in and moved it to the side of the living room.
I KNOW that's a bad idea.
I also know if I keep chipping away at the piles, bit by bit they'll erode.
I'm optimistic!
I know, I know -- it'd be better if that space under the table was empty.
That's my "tech" suitcase. It holds all the cables, chargers, and components that I could possibly need. No obsolete stuff.
If I move it now to where it belongs, I'll be tripping over it.
Onward.

Clutter Confidential: 18/31 Cornered With Clutter

Time to get deep into this corner.
First up, finish listing the belts on Poshmark.
I will confess, this studded number got diverted back into my collection:
As I was trying to style it for Poshmark, I wrapped it around my wrist as a bracelet:
It's a keeper!
It lives with the bracelets now, joining its 80's friends the cowrie belt, the neon plastic bracelets from Burkina Faso, the vintage Bakelite, etc, etc.

"Hey! I remember this ball!"

Clutter Confidential: 15/31 The Chain of Clutter

I needed to pull a piece of art out of storage to take to my gallery today.
I have a pile of art detritus that needs to back to storage.
Make the trip to storage WITH some detritus in hand and put it back where it belongs.
Simple, right?
  1. Don Lymphedema sleeve.
  2. Grab as much as I can carry.
  3. Take it out to the art storage area in the garage without tripping on anything.
  4. Storage room is so full, I can barely maneuver in there. Heck, I can hardly get the door open!
  5. Grab art.
  6. Repeat? No, not now.
"I'm just wondering what in it for me?"

Clutter Confidential: 10/31 Clutter Cache

If I tidy things up in another room and it's not recorded, does it count?
Kidding. It's all progress.
I noticed a little pile of random photos under the table.
They're back with the rest of the photos again.
The cat toys inside the the table shelf are another issue. Cat clutter!

Clutter Confidential: 1/31 Table of Clutter

My goal this month is to declutter the living room.
I'm combining a writing challenge at 31 Days with a decluttering e-course to try and get it to happen. I've already made incremental improvement on the coffee table (see how it looked two days ago). Yay me! (To many, I know, this is still a wretched mess.)

Part of the process is setting a timer for 5 minutes and get things more organized within that time frame. Yes, only FIVE! I can declutter for five minutes. During my first session (two days ago), I did a lot of moving objects into the rooms where they belong, putting them in other piles of stuff. The messy bits are everywhere. It seems so hopeless. Aaaaargh!
Deep breath.
I'm keeping my focus on the living room. I'll get to the other rooms later.

I thought it'd be amusing to sketch the next area that I plan to tidy up to keep a visual journal along with the writing.
I've sketched my clutter before. Maybe I'll have a clutter art show sometime.

During the session, I found an art tool that I'd been looking for! One of my graphite lead holders. It's like a mechanical pencil with bigger lead. This warranted another sketch.
Mr Lou got really excited by the empty space on the table.
He also had to eliminate his enemy the art tool.
"My work is done. Wait. That marker is mocking me. It must be knocked under the couch."
