We Went To NoHo and Ate

It was a Glutton get together with Guest Glutton Kim.
Kim was in town for business meetings. Severo Yelped our dinner choice. I got us organized! We were ALL hungry!

Dinner: Tacos Manzano, 11160 Burbank Blvd.North Hollywood, California 91601
King Glutton surveys his domain. All is well in the kingdom.
(Did not get closeups of his Tripas Taco or Chicken Mole Oaxaqueno)
Tlayuda with two meats: Chorizo and Carnitas
For me, Chile Relleno -- delicious!
Quesedilla with Carnitas. Kim was content.

Dessert: Republic of Pie, 11118 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood, CA, 91601
What did we get?

You'll have to go over to the Dessert Safari to find out!

Gluttony Noir

Russ and Anita hosted a screening of the original Mildred Pierce last night and The Gluttons were invited. Over on SpyGirl, I go into the details on the ambiance and the colorful guests. Here, our focus is on the food. The desserts, to be more specific.

Mildred supported her family by baking pies, so we were asked to consider bringing one to add to the potluck dinner. Many did:
A potluck line is different when everyone is in period dress:
Watch out!
Baker Mildred is wielding a knife!
Soon a silhouetted figure appeared on the balcony next to the projector:
"It's movie time!"
Outside the manse.
Is a secret weapon nestled in the basket?
Or just a collection of baked goods, purloined from the potluck?
The answer is safe with me, I'll never tell...

Gluttony on Tour: Day 1 -- Pies-n-Thighs

We high-tailed it to Brooklyn for breakfast.

Our favorite breakfast spot in Williamsburg:
Pies-n-Thighs
You may remember that I hung out here for hours
last summer
.

"Fish & Grits" for two!

Funny mug graphic.
Oslo Roasters coffee. More on them later...

We sat right next to the dessert case.
This became a problem...
We immediately got these three donuts to go,
plus six molasses cookies
Breakfast! Finally!

Happy

Free donut holes.
Why they thought we needed these, I don't know.
Saved for later.
Next, it was time for pie. Decisions, decisions...

key lime

banana cream

chocolate pudding

peanut butter

coconut macaroon
The WINNER!

compressed coconut flake crust (with eggwhite binder?)
chocolate glaze
vanilla cream
chocolate covered almonds
OMG
After all of that, a walk was in order.
